Mission

The goals of the Acadèmia Catalana de Gastronomia i Nutrició are observation, investigation, and promotion of Catalan cooking and gastronomy.

The ACGN has clear objectives: to unite, protect, and encourage the investigation, dissemination and promotion of Catalan cooking and gastronomy, and to consolidate the clear and necessary relationship that should exist, and be maintained, between gastronomy and society.

These objectives affirm the intention to continue the task of dignifying the trade of cooks and chefs, to ennoble the daily work of our artisans, to strengthen the different characteristics of our gastronomy, to reinforce the improvement of quality standards, and finally, to become a true platform of analysis and debate, a unique path to reach a constant improvement in the daily tasks and culture of our country.

Catalunya has always maintained an even balance between tradition and modernity. We are a country with a legendary desire for modernity. Modernity constitutes the most distinctive tradition of Catalan people.

Above all, an entity must have dreams. And those dreams should be nurtured. It is with this intention that Acadèmia Catalana de Gastronomia i Nutrició has a firm commitment: to promote the conditions to ensure that the personality of Catalan gastronomy evolves daily and advances, while retaining its essence. Preserving the identity of our country is both a culinary and cultural challenge. The ACGN offers this website as another tool to invite academics and citizens to collaborate and continue in the legitimate effort to safeguard the identity of the historic and noble activity which forms the incredible gastronomy of our country.
